A very difficult question to answer. There were many emblems and plaques used on any ship. There was the builders plaque, ship owners plaque, boiler plaque, machinery plaques, compass & telegraph plaques, ships were bought and sold and names changed. Shipping companies went out of business or were taken over by other shipping companies. As you can imagine even a refit meant many changes. If possible I would try and find the name of the ship and where it was built. That might give you a direction to search in. Good luck.
